Happy Sunday! Whether you're a new subscriber or an existing subscriber, welcome back. Here are a few articles you should check out from this week!

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter

Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) named its 2025 most powerful beauty brands recently. On the list were two Black-owned brands. The first one named was Danessa Myricks Beauty, founded by Queens native Danessa Myricks, a makeup artist and entrepreneur who has spearheaded this successful brand. Sales have grown 105% in 2025, and traffic to the product pages has jumped 7,000%.

The next brand mentioned is Cécred, singer-songwriter Beyoncé Knowles-Carter’s emerging haircare brand. This year-old brand has already received dozens of awards, and a key product, the Restoring Hair & Edge Drops, sells one unit every 16 seconds. Black consumers in the U.S. alone spend $9 billion annually on beauty products, so demand is there, and consumers are there. Watching Black-owned brands get a piece of such a large pie, with an audience they understand intimately, is always a good thing.

On the topic of understanding the audience intimately, Cécred doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. They launched their Protective Collection this week, specifically designed for various hairstyles and the levels of care and protection they require. Based on the success and attention to detail that have gone into previous products, the Protective Collection should follow the same path.

Pat McGrath

Pat McGrath is a long-time industry figure and staple. As a makeup artist, she has spent years crafting looks that have sparked both imagination and wonder on runways and in advertising campaigns around the world. Her work with brands like Alexander McQueen, Prada, and Giorgio Armani has been inspiring to fans of fashion and practitioners of makeup alike. Her company, Pat McGrath Labs, at its peak, was worth $1 billion. Now, she’s taken her talents to Louis Vuitton to be the creative director for their first beauty line, La Beauté Louis Vuitton, which officially launched for wide release on August 29.

Pat McGrath knows makeup. Louis Vuitton knows the business of beauty. We’re all waiting in anticipation to see what they come up with over time.
