This week, Collab Capital announced they raised $75 million for their second fund. For their first fund, they raised $50 million. Collab Capital focuses on community infrastructure, healthcare access, and economic mobility. As government funding is being pulled from such areas, it's important that some in the private industry make efforts to find and develop companies to address such pressing needs. They pride themselves on investing in the building blocks of shared prosperity. The money they've accrued is significant since Black investors make up about 3% of the industry.

Formula 1 has been putting on a masterclass in marketing, branding, and collaboration. As the racing company continues to expand, the collaborations are piling up Drake's company OVO announced a collaboration with Red Bull Racing. They announced it via video and the collaboration was released on June 13. The collaboration includes t-shirts, hoodies, and jackets. OVO is no stranger to collaborations. They've already collaborated with the NBA, NFL, NCAA, and of course Nike. As far as we know, this is their first dive into racing.
Staying on the topic of Formula 1 and racing, this week Lewis Hamilton launched House 44. It will be a VIP experience put together in collaboration with Soho House and F1 that will allow fans to have clear views of the starting line while in a suite that will be curated by Hamilton himself. The experience debuted at the Miami Grand Prix earlier this year. The cost will start around $13,000 and space will be limited.

A group of Black-led and owned organizations in Oakland have formed a coalition to revitalize the community called Rise East. This week, Rise East reached its $100 million goal to revitalize the community. The main focus of the plan, which is a 10-year plan, is to invest in key areas. These areas are education, job training, healthcare, and public safety. The area is a 40-block area that will be developed. As opposed to waiting for the state or federal government to develop the area, Rise East decided to take matters into its own hands. It will be interesting to see how this develops over the next 10 years.
Media is evolving and streamers are an active part of the evolution. This week, The BET Awards took place and had a lot of nostalgic elements. One of the key things that stood out was that they allowed Kai Cenat to stream the whole time while he was at the award show. His authenticity, commentary, and his chemistry with comedians Druski and Kevin Hart allowed the audience to appreciate the BET Awards from a different perspective. Providing both comedic relief, unscripted moments, and a break from the monotony that award shows often have.

Black founders can get a $1 million prize through SPARC (Startup Pitch Accelerator Regional Competition). This is a competition in South Florida aimed at helping Black entrepreneurs.
Kara Young became the first Black performer to win a Tony Award two years in a row. There were multiple Black winners in this year's Tony Awards including costume designer Paul Tazewell and Branden Jacobs-Jenkins for his play Purpose.
Ebonie Ward opened a 10,000-square-foot multi-use space for creatives in Atlanta.
Rapper, Slick Rick released his first album, Victory, in 25 years.
Protests in Kenya have started after teacher and activist Alber Ojwang died while in police custody.
