Children of Blood and Bone is a 2018 New York Times Bestselling fiction novel by Tomi Adeyemi. The film adaptation of the novel will be released in January 2027. Although we haven’t heard much about the film for the last couple of years, this week we finally got the cast announcement. The ensemble cast is star-studded including multiple award winners and no shortage of talent. So far, the confirmed cast includes: Idris Elba, Damson Idris, Viola Davis, Cynthia Erivo, Amanda Stenberg, Tosin Cole, Thuso Mdebu, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Lashana Lynch. Considering how rare film studios green-light big-budget Black films, it appears they’re going all in. Production starts this year in South Africa.

Over the last couple of weeks, companies have been dismantling their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs. Some are doing it quietly and some are doing it loudly. The changing political landscape has caused several companies to stop attempting to do more for minority groups. From Meta to Walmart, they are slowly discontinuing efforts for inclusion. Some of the moves have been enough that some shareholders, specifically for Walmart, are trying to get them to reverse the decision. Despite all this, banks like JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley aren’t following the crowd, but are doubling down on their DEI efforts. At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JP Morgan stated "We are going to continue to reach out to the Black community, the Hispanic community, the LGBT community, the veterans community.”
